Working With Delta

Which manufacturing pathway is right for my brand?

Delta offers three main ways to work together. Private Labelling is for brands wanting to start with an established Delta formulation, Product Development is for brands wanting a product developed around their own brief, and Contract Manufacturing is for brands that already have an approved formulation ready for commercial production.

Do you offer private label skincare?

Yes. Delta supports private label skincare using established formulations, as well as custom product development when a brand wants a formulation created around its own brief. The most suitable pathway depends on your commercial objectives, timeline and product requirements.

Explore Private Labelling .

Is private label the same as white label?

Not always. Manufacturers use the terms differently. At Delta, Private Labelling means starting with an established Delta formulation and bringing it to market under your own brand, while custom formulas sit within Product Development.

Which is cheaper: private label or white label skincare?

Starting with an established formulation will usually involve less development work than creating a custom formula. Final cost still depends on the product, packaging, order quantity and manufacturing requirements.

Can private label products be customised?

The level of customisation depends on the product. Private Labelling can support brand, packaging and product-direction decisions, but it is different from creating a completely custom formulation. For a formula developed around your own brief, Product Development is the more suitable pathway.

Can I start with private label and move to custom formulation later?

Yes. A brand can begin with an established formulation and move into custom Product Development as the business grows or as the range becomes more differentiated.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

Minimum order quantities vary depending on the formulation, product format, packaging and production complexity. Delta can provide guidance once the product requirements and intended manufacturing pathway are understood.

Can you scale production as our brand grows?

Yes. Delta supports brands from early commercial production through to larger manufacturing volumes, with controlled processes designed to maintain batch consistency and quality as production scales.

Explore Contract Manufacturing .

Can you manufacture a full product range under one brand?

Yes. Delta can support multi-product ranges across categories such as skincare, body care, haircare, sunscreen, self-tan and after-sun, helping brands maintain consistency across product formats and production planning.

Product Development & Formulation

Do you offer custom skincare formulation development?

Yes. Delta supports custom formulation development and optimisation for new and existing skincare products, including formulation refinement with stability, performance and manufacturability in mind.

Explore Product Development .

What are R&D formulation services?

R&D formulation services support the development and refinement of cosmetic and personal care products before commercial manufacturing. This can include the product brief, ingredient selection, lab samples, formulation refinement, relevant testing and preparation for scale-up.

When should a brand speak to a formulation partner?

A brand can involve a formulation partner at different stages, from an early product idea through to an existing formula that needs refinement. Speaking with the development team before packaging, claims and launch dates are completely locked in can give the project more flexibility.

Explore Product Development .

Can you manufacture products for sensitive skin or specific skin concerns?

Yes. Delta can develop products for different skin needs, including sensitive skin, dryness, barrier support and targeted treatment applications. The exact formulation approach depends on the product brief, intended claims and target user.

Sunscreen & SPF

How do you develop an SPF product?

Developing an SPF product generally starts with a clear product brief, followed by the regulatory pathway, formulation development, testing, scale-up and commercial manufacturing. Packaging compatibility and intended claims also need to be considered during development.

What testing is required for sunscreen in Australia?

Testing depends on the type of sunscreen and the claims being made. It may include SPF and broad-spectrum testing, water-resistance testing where relevant, stability testing and other testing required for the individual formulation and regulatory pathway.

Explore Sunscreen & SPF Manufacturing .

How long does SPF development take?

There is no single SPF development timeline. Timing depends on the formulation, testing requirements, regulatory pathway, packaging and whether further development or repeat testing is required.

What do brands need before launching sunscreen?

A useful starting point is a clear product brief covering the type of SPF product, intended claims, desired product experience, packaging direction, commercial requirements and launch goals. Regulatory and testing requirements can then be planned around that brief.

Can an existing skincare brand add SPF to its range?

Yes. Existing skincare brands can add SPF, but sunscreen requires different planning from standard skincare because formulation, claims, testing and regulatory requirements need to be considered together.

Why does SPF development take longer than standard skincare?

SPF products need to support measurable performance and regulatory claims. Formulation changes, packaging choices, stability results, SPF testing and water-resistance testing where relevant can all influence whether the product is ready to progress.

What should brands ask an SPF manufacturer?

Brands should ask about SPF formulation and manufacturing experience, testing requirements, regulatory pathways, packaging compatibility, minimum order quantities, production lead times and scale-up support.

Explore Sunscreen & SPF Manufacturing .

Can cosmetic brands create custom sunscreen formulas?

Yes. Custom SPF development is possible, provided the formulation is developed within the technical, testing, regulatory and manufacturing requirements that apply to the intended product and market.

Can you manufacture water-resistant or sport SPF formulations?

Yes. Delta can support the development and manufacture of water-resistant and performance-focused SPF formats, depending on the product brief, intended claims and regulatory pathway.

Can you help ensure packaging is compatible with SPF formulas?

Yes. Packaging should be considered alongside the sunscreen formulation because the pack needs to be suitable for the product, its stability requirements and its intended use before commercial production.

Why does sunscreen ball up on the skin?

Sunscreen pilling can be influenced by the sunscreen itself, the skincare or makeup layered with it, application technique and individual skin characteristics. Pilling is an application behaviour and is not automatically a sign that the formula is unstable.

Can skincare underneath sunscreen cause pilling?

Yes. The interaction between different layers can influence pilling. Allowing skincare products time to settle and assessing how the sunscreen behaves within the intended routine can be useful during development.

Do silicones cause sunscreen to pill?

Not necessarily. Silicones are commonly used in skincare and SPF products and do not automatically cause pilling. The complete formulation, the products being layered together and the way they are applied are more relevant.

Why does sunscreen pill under makeup?

Pilling under makeup can occur when skincare, sunscreen and makeup layers do not sit smoothly together. Product compatibility, application technique and repeated rubbing can all contribute.

Is pilling the same as formula separation?

No. Pilling happens during application on the skin, while formula separation relates to the physical stability of the product itself. They are different considerations during SPF development.

What does water resistant SPF mean?

It means the sunscreen has undergone testing to assess its SPF after a defined period of water exposure. The claim that can be made depends on the applicable testing method and intended market.

Is water resistance testing the same as SPF testing?

No. SPF testing establishes the product's sun protection factor. Water-resistance testing assesses sunscreen performance following defined water exposure. The two support different claims.

Does every sunscreen need water resistance testing?

No. Water-resistance testing is relevant when a brand intends to make a water-resistance claim that requires supporting evidence.

TGA & GMP

What is a TGA-listed sunscreen?

A TGA-listed sunscreen is a sunscreen that falls within Australia's therapeutic goods framework and is listed with the Therapeutic Goods Administration. These products require specific regulatory, quality and documentation processes.

What is required for TGA-listed sunscreen products?

TGA-listed sunscreen products need the appropriate regulatory pathway, compliant manufacturing, supporting documentation, suitable testing and quality systems that align with the applicable product requirements.

What does GMP manufacturing mean?

GMP stands for Good Manufacturing Practice. It provides a structured framework for manufacturing therapeutic products consistently and with appropriate quality controls and documented processes.

Explore Delta's Certification & Accreditation .

Is Delta a TGA-licensed manufacturer?

Yes. Delta operates TGA-licensed manufacturing facilities for relevant regulated products in Australia.

How do manufacturers support TGA compliance?

Manufacturers can support the manufacturing side of compliance through controlled production, quality systems, batch documentation, product specifications, manufacturing records and coordination of relevant testing requirements.

Is TGA-listed sunscreen manufacturing different from cosmetic manufacturing?

Yes. Therapeutic sunscreen manufacturing involves additional regulatory, documentation and quality requirements compared with standard cosmetic manufacturing.

When should a brand speak to a TGA-licensed manufacturer?

Ideally, before the product brief, packaging, claims and launch timing are completely locked in. Early discussions can help clarify the manufacturing pathway, documentation, testing and production requirements.

Testing & Stability

What is product stability testing?

Product stability testing monitors how a formulation performs over time under defined storage conditions. Depending on the product, this can include changes in appearance, texture, viscosity, separation and other specifications established for the formula.

Do you assist with stability testing?

Yes. Delta can support stability testing as part of the wider product development process. The appropriate testing program depends on the individual formulation and product requirements.

Explore Product Development .

Does packaging affect sunscreen or skincare product stability?

Yes. Packaging can affect compatibility, usability and how a product performs over time. The intended pack should be considered alongside the formulation before commercial production.

What types of microbiological testing may be used for cosmetics?

Depending on the formulation and product requirements, microbiological testing may include bacterial, yeast and mould testing and preservative efficacy testing.

What is preservative efficacy testing?

Preservative efficacy testing, sometimes called PET or challenge testing, assesses how the preservative system in a formulation performs when challenged with specified microorganisms over a defined period.

Does every cosmetic product need the same microbiological testing?

No. Microbiological risk depends on factors such as formulation, product format and intended use, so testing requirements can differ between products.
